Mokey is home again

Funny story... We lost mokey (our rabbit) about two months ago. I was worried that he dug in too deep into his burrow (sp) and had been caved in. Travis thought a hawk swooped down to get him and the kids just didn't know. Anyways we kept hoping and looking for him each time we went out in the neighborhood. Well, the other night we were driving in our neighborhood and I saw a black rabbit. Of course Mokey has never come to us when we call his name but we would still try to catch him with no luck for two nights. Saturday afternoon we went out and saw him again and started talking to the owners of the house that he would hang out by. We gave the guy our phone number and he said he would call us if he saw him again. I thought ok, but didn't think he would call. Sunday morning he calls and says that he found him again and if we all try to get him we can capture him if we come right now. So we all get dressed and run out. We caught him, not knowing if it was really him we took him to the vet today and got his microchip verified. It was him! He has a bit of a tear on his eye that we have to give him medication for but other than that the vet says he is very lucky to have survived such an ordeal. I know! We are so happy to have him back with our family.

Wild west shoot out

Before the train ride to the Grand Canyon they had a wild west shoot out. It was funny. These guys are the same guys that robbed us. Taylin wanted nothing to do with leaving my side while they were in sight.

I know it's hokey but it put us in the wild west mood.

Williams, Arizona

Pictures around Williams.

Waiting for the train.
Still waiting.

Read the sign behind them. It's cute: Children, do not allow parents to play on tracks.

Of course the park. We always find a park in whatever town we go to.

The deer farm maze, I guess.

The historic Route 66 runs right through town. It is pretty cool to spot things from the Cars movie.

Cruisers restaurant.
Sunset outside our hotel window.

The kids loved this every time we drove by. See the woman hanging out the top window?

Mountain man Bill Williams is the town's namesake. This town and area is filled with so much history. I could have spent a full week there.
Of course we had to take a picture of this. Clay loved it.

The whole town from one end to the other end was decorated with Christmas lights and such. If anyone is interested they do a Christmas tree lighting on December 1st.

This was our last day, breakfast at the Pine country restaurant. If you do go don't eat at Max and Thelma's, a restaurant at the train depot, one word, gross! It was suppose to be a Christmas dinner buffet but I think it was a last years Christmas buffet.

This was quite eeerie. The town cemetery was big and very unkempt. It was a big forest area with tombstones and such everywhere. No rhyme or reason like the ones that I am use to. And where is the grass? I bet they have fun around Halloween. Clay and Taylin did not want to go in there but I found it very interesting.

Instead of plots they had little fenced areas. It was very bizarre.

This was on route 66 in the town Seligman. If you want any souvenirs buy them here they are more than half off everywhere else. I found that out a little too late.

Taylin posing as a scarecrow. See the mean face? For some reason she thinks scarecrows are mean.

Grand Canyon railway

This was by far the funnest way to go to the Grand Canyon. Just make sure you ask for seats facing each other if there is more than two of you going. On the way to the canyon the Sheriff comes by and talks to you. They serve soda, pastries and fruit on the way there.
This Sheriff was cool. Taylin was really scared about the train robbers and did not want to come back on the train if they were going to rob us. He made her feel better.
The majestic Grand Canyon!

Yikes! Taylin looking down.

Studio lookout.

Up on the steps to studio lookout.

Hopi house, cool doors going in.

On the way back they served apple cider, fruits and cheese. We saw a big herd of elk and antelope, and then. . .

we got robbed. Listen to the server being very scared.

These guys were great.

Taylin and her friend Dylan that she met. We saw him and his family on the way to the canyon, on the way back and then on the polar express. He was her best friend at the end. It was cute.

Bedrock land

So, we were on our way to the airport museum in Valle Arizona when we came upon this. We thought we would go into the gift shop and see what they had. Come to find out there is a huge bedrock land right behind this building. So we had to go in.

First we went to the goatosaurus. It had real goats.

Funny pictures.

This slide was awesome.

It was us and another family. We had the whole land to ourselves!

Each house had real furniture in it and food that they ate a long time ago.

Barney and Betty's house.

The school bus.

The school house.

Clay and Taylin learned a lot!

Taylin getting operated on at the hospital. Ouch.

Oh-oh. They got in trouble and had to go to jail.
Boo-hoo.I'm going to break through these bars.

Sorry about the wind sound. This gives a picture of the magnitude of this place. They say in the summer there is train ride also. It was fun enough without the train ride.

The Polar Express

Sunday we didn't have anything planned until that night for the Polar Express. We did the town of Bedrock and then came back to the hotel for a rest. OK I zonked out! I woke up and looked out the hotel window to this! I couldn't believe it. It had snowed for the Polar Express. It was so perfect.

The view out my window.

Grand Canyon fake deer farm. It was cool all lit up.

Clay wanting to get a picture of his breath. I know, I know, to you Utah people you get to see it everyday but we here in Vegas rarely get to see it. It's always fun.

Cheers! Hot chocolate for everyone. After playing in the snow and not having the proper snow attire they were pretty drenched. We took off Taylin's shoes and socks and tried to warm them up on the trip.

This was our Chef and her Elf. They gave us hot chocolate and cookies.

Cheese.

We are puckered out!

Taylin telling the elf that she wants another dog for Christmas. Oh brother.

Outside the train depot.

The bells that drove momma crazy! It was fun and the kids loved it.
